I’ve posted a few times about how I love Italian food. Pizza is probably my favorite food of all foods. I’ve probably said this as well. And yet I haven’t made pizza on this blog yet. I have some future plans for pizzas I would like to try, but this post comes with a recipe I have been making for a few years. It is a form of pizza, kind of. It tastes like a delicious pizza casserole of sorts. I’ve enjoyed this recipe for several years, and it is very easy to make.
Bubble pizza is basically biscuits baked in sauce and cheese. The biscuits bake up to be fluffy. With the sauce and cheese, it tastes just like pizza. This recipe is very easy to do. the most prep work you have to do is cut the biscuits into pieces. You will be very surprised to see that so few steps equal a delicious dish. This goes great with a salad and some vegetables. Feel free to add in any veggies and meat to this dish that you’d like. You can make this a supreme bubble pizza or a pepperoni and cheese bubble pizza just by adding traditional pizza toppings to the mix. You can make this however you want, and it will taste wonderful each time!
The first step is to cut the biscuits into 8 pieces each. I used reduced fat, flaky layered biscuits. You can use any biscuits you’d like. I have used many varieties, and they all bake up relatively the same.
Once the biscuits are cut, toss with the sauce and 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese until everything is well coated and mixed together. If you want to add in meat or vegetables, you would add them at this time.
Spread the mixture into the prepared pan, and top with the remaining one cup of cheese. You can add additional cheese if you’d like to. I have added Parmesan cheese before, and it was also very delicious. Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes or until all the pieces are cooked. The bubble pizza should be golden brown. Just make sure you cook the pizza all the way through or you will end up with raw biscuits at the bottom.
I have been making this bubble pizza for a few years now. It is very simple and delicious. It’s a great alternative to pizza. You can mix in any toppings you’d like, such as vegetables or meat. This is a very simple dish to prepare, and it’s delicious. You can easily double this for a 13×9 pan as well. Just make sure you bake it through entirely or you will end up with some raw biscuits at the bottom (trust me on this one). It really does taste like a yummy pizza baked into a casserole form.

- 16.3oz can refrigerated reduced fat biscuit
- 8 oz pasta sauce or pizza sauce
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray an 8×8 pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- Cut each biscuit into 8 pieces. Toss with sauce and 1 cup of cheese until evenly coated.
- Spread into the prepared pan, and top with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until all the pieces are cooked and it is golden brown.
Make sure you look at the dough in the center of the bubble pizza. All the pieces need to be cooked or you will end up with gooey, undercooked biscuits.
If you notice the top of the bubble pizza baking too quickly, cover it with aluminum foil and continue baking until it is thoroughly cooked all the way through.
