I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: sometimes foods just need a sauce. Sauces enhance flavors that you may not have even picked up on before. I said this back in February about my Greek Yogurt Ranch Sauce. So I wanted to add another sauce to the Jolly Crumbs repertoire. This sauce combines two of my favorite ingredients: garlic and cheese.

This is perhaps one of the easiest sauces to make. It requires very little work, time, and ingredients. Not to mention you stir everything together in one pot. It really takes only a few minutes to make this delicious sauce. I served the sauce this time with my Seasoned Oven Fries. This was a delicious combination. The garlic cheese sauce goes so well with the potatoes. It would also be delicious with cauliflower, green beans, and pretzels. Or pretty much anything really. You can’t go wrong with this sauce if you like garlic and cheese. The flavors blend together perfectly and neither is overpowering in flavor.

All you need to do in order to make this delicious sauce is melt cream cheese in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Whisk in your milk, garlic, oil and salt. Stir in the cheese until smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add more milk as needed. That’s it! This sauce enhances the potato like none other. I can’t wait to try this sauce on more veggies and sides. It really is a great addition to dishes. Not to mention it is low in calories, and you can make it lower by using reduced fat cream cheese and cheddar cheese. However, you can use full fat versions and the calories are still low!


Garlic Cheese Sauce

 Ingredients:

  • 2 oz cream cheese (any kind)
  • 2 tbsp milk (any will work)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions:

  1. Melt cream cheese in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Whisk in milk, garlic, oil and salt. Stir in the cheese until smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add more milk as needed.
