Lately I have been exploring different ingredients in my baking. I started to use Truvia Baking Blend in place of sugar and Splenda. I really, really love this switch to Truvia. I then started to look into different swaps with ingredients. I have been swapping apple sauce in place of oil in quite a few of my recipes. Now, I am starting to swap out butter and oil for Greek yogurt. I have to say, so far I am impressed. I made this successful swap in my Yogurt Chocolate Chip Cookies, and those were delicious. So I wanted to give you another yummy recipe featuring Greek yogurt.
Each month I have made a dessert featuring peanut butter. I’ve posted about Easy Peanut Butter Fudge, No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies, and 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies. Far be it for me to stand in the way of you all receiving another peanut butter dessert. This recipe is yet another peanut butter cookie. However, it is far different from the normal cookie. You know I’m a dessert fiend. No need to go through this again in great detail. I haven’t posted a tasty dessert in a few days now. This may be surprising to those who know me. I know not everyone feels the same way I do about desserts, so I have been working hard on diversifying my blog. However, a while ago I was working hard on creating a delicious low calorie brownie option. I have posted one other brownie recipe before, Chickpea Brownies, but I know beans in chocolate isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. So I wanted to make a “normal” brownie recipe that was easy to do and yielded delicious results.
It has been a long time since I’ve had a Rice Krispies Treat. Some people might not be aware that those aren’t vegetarian friendly. Sadly they contain marshmallows, which contain gelatin which isn’t vegetarian. This makes me sad. It was a childhood favorite I can no longer enjoy due to its ingredients list. I have clearly been recently pining over the thought of a soft, sweet, chewy Rice Krispies Treat. It dawned on me that perhaps I could make my own Rice Krispies Treats by using marshmallow’s delicious cousin marshmallow crème.
I recently purchased some cinnamon sugar pita crisps to satisfy my sweet and crunchy cravings. Sometimes I just want a small snack for a little pick-me-up in the afternoon. While the crisps were delicious, I figured I could make my own snack that would be healthier and cheaper. So, I set out trying to create a snack that would be similar to the pita crisps. I believe I found a perfect combination of sweet and crunchy with this easy to make snack. It only takes four ingredients and just a few minutes!
Recently a posted about how much I love chocolate desserts. However, Samuel generally prefers less-sweet desserts with fruit in them. Sounds easy right? Wrong. He’s pretty picky, whether he admits it or not. So, when I decided to make a delicious, apple crisp for dessert, I was surprised when Samuel said he wasn’t really a crisp fan.
