Sometimes you just need a crunchy, crispy potato chip to solve all your problems. What could be better than that, you may ask? Well, I would argue that homemade crispy chips are more satisfying than store-bought chips. If you are in agreement, then boy do I have a recipe for you!
I love snacks and snacking. However, since I have started to eat healthier and cut back on excessive eating, snacking has really had to be limited. When I do snack, the snacks have to be lower in calorie but filling at the same time. This brings me to my post today. I love crunchy, salty snacks. So, what better way to ensure snacks are low in calorie than make them yourself?
It has been a long time since I’ve had a Rice Krispies Treat. Some people might not be aware that those aren’t vegetarian friendly. Sadly they contain marshmallows, which contain gelatin which isn’t vegetarian. This makes me sad. It was a childhood favorite I can no longer enjoy due to its ingredients list. I have clearly been recently pining over the thought of a soft, sweet, chewy Rice Krispies Treat. It dawned on me that perhaps I could make my own Rice Krispies Treats by using marshmallow’s delicious cousin marshmallow crème.
I recently purchased some cinnamon sugar pita crisps to satisfy my sweet and crunchy cravings. Sometimes I just want a small snack for a little pick-me-up in the afternoon. While the crisps were delicious, I figured I could make my own snack that would be healthier and cheaper. So, I set out trying to create a snack that would be similar to the pita crisps. I believe I found a perfect combination of sweet and crunchy with this easy to make snack. It only takes four ingredients and just a few minutes!
I am all about easy, healthy recipes that anyone can duplicate. I absolutely love recipes that seem too easy to be true but aren’t. This post is exactly that. Who ever heard of bread that doesn’t require any sort of machine to make? Also, there aren’t any weird ingredients needed in this recipe. There are just standard bread ingredients needed in this recipe. I promise you, this bread is insanely easy to make, and it is more delicious than anything you can buy in a store.

Now, this may not seem like a post fit for Valentine’s Day. However, these breadsticks are the Crock Pot Pot Pie Soup’s soul mate. These breadsticks are the soup’s one true love. And I love these breadsticks. What could be better than a post based on a love between foods, two foods I happen to love together?
So, when someone suggests a recipe idea to me or a food to make, I add it to my list. If I haven’t already made it, or if it isn’t on my blog, I take those suggestions very seriously. I compile a list of foods I want to try and what others have suggested. This recipe was inspired by my mother-in-law. When you have over ripe bananas, there is only so much you can do with them. In my opinion, the best use of bananas like that is banana bread.
One of the best parts of eating at Mexican restaurants is the free chips and salsa. I will never be able to turn down chips and salsa. However, the chips at the restaurants aren’t all that great for you. They are often fried. So, I wanted to implement my oven fried foods idea on the tortilla chip. I have to tell you, these were better than the restaurant tortilla chips and way better than the bagged chips at the store.
This is the first post of the week featuring some delicious food I made for Super Bowl Sunday. Who says Super Bowl food has to be fattening, fried, or full of calories? Not me. My football snacks are low in calorie and full of flavor. Not only are these snacks and foods perfect for football, they are great any time of the year.
It’s no secret
sometimes I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen. I especially have an affinity to the salty and sweet combinations. So, this recipe isn’t so much salty and sweet as it is tangy and savory. This also happens to be a flavor combination I enjoy. I was drawn to this recipe when I first saw it in passing. I have to say, this may be one of my favorite recipes I’ve made to date.
