I love sweet breads. I’m not talking about the meat sweet breads, but actual breads that are sweet. I just felt I needed to clarify this. Anyway, I have made two sweet breads before on this blog. I made a Banana Bread and Pumpkin Bread. Both of these breads were a hit. I wanted to add another sweet bread to this collection. You can never have too many breads that are perfect for breakfast and dessert.
Sometimes my mornings are a bit hectic. So, I don’t always have time to sit down and eat a normal, hot breakfast. A lot of the time I eat breakfast at my front desk. Because of this, I like to have easy to eat items in the morning. It’s a bonus if the items are portable so I can eat them on the go if need be. One such breakfast food is the beloved muffin. I have made Skinny Blueberry Muffins back in January, which totally fit my breakfast needs. So, I decided to make another light muffin to help me when time is short in the mornings.
I recently purchased some cinnamon sugar pita crisps to satisfy my sweet and crunchy cravings. Sometimes I just want a small snack for a little pick-me-up in the afternoon. While the crisps were delicious, I figured I could make my own snack that would be healthier and cheaper. So, I set out trying to create a snack that would be similar to the pita crisps. I believe I found a perfect combination of sweet and crunchy with this easy to make snack. It only takes four ingredients and just a few minutes!
Recently a posted about how much I love chocolate desserts. However, Samuel generally prefers less-sweet desserts with fruit in them. Sounds easy right? Wrong. He’s pretty picky, whether he admits it or not. So, when I decided to make a delicious, apple crisp for dessert, I was surprised when Samuel said he wasn’t really a crisp fan. Well, I was determined to change his mind by making a perfect crisp.
Are you tired of breakfast posts yet? No? Perfect. I have another breakfast post for you. This one may seem very normal and boring. However, this is anything but boring. You may be thinking how can this recipe be special when it’s so easy to make. It seems too easy, right? Well, I must tell you this baked oatmeal is delicious and so simple to make.
Have you ever purchased the candied nuts that are sold at fairs and carnivals? They have a crunchy, sugary shell with a slight cinnamon flavor. Well, I decided to make my own cinnamon sugar candied nuts for my employees. I like making homemade candies and treats during the holiday season. So, I gave this recipe a shot. And boy are these good.
In my Cinnamon and Vanilla Waffles post, I discuss my love for waffles. There is another breakfast food I enjoy every few weekends or so. It has a nice crunch on the outside and a soft fluffy inside. It has a touch of vanilla, sweetness, and cinnamon all throughout. This weekend I made one of the easiest breakfast foods: French toast.
Sometimes cooking for two can be a challenge. It seems like when I half a recipe it still makes more than what Samuel and I can eat without getting burnt out. Cooking for two gets more challenging when baking. Samuel doesn’t love sweets as much as I do. So, the majority of the time I will eat double the baked goods I make, or I will share them with friends. It would sure be nice to have a single serving, individual sized dessert that is easy to make and low calorie. Oh wait! Enter the individual snickerdoodle cookie.
One of my guilty pleasures is sweets. I love dessert. I’m one of those people who enjoys desserts all the time. Like for breakfast. Yes, I admit it: My name is Chelsea, and I like to eat sweets for breakfast. One of my favorite sweet breakfast items is donuts. I could eat donuts all day, every day. However, there aren’t a lot of donuts that are low calorie. So, I set out trying to find a way to get the flavor of donuts into a low calorie treat.
Waffles were always a fun treat for me. I have always loved the built in pockets that held butter and syrup in place. It’s like an edible prison for butter and syrup. Waffles are an amazing invention.
Now, I feel like I need to be honest here. I had never actually made a waffle before. Ever. We’ve owned a waffle iron for a few years, and Samuel has only used it one time. I didn’t even attempt to use it. I also haven’t made a waffle batter. I grew up eating pancakes, and the only time I ever had waffles was at a restaurant or out of the freezer.
