I recently purchased some cinnamon sugar pita crisps to satisfy my sweet and crunchy cravings. Sometimes I just want a small snack for a little pick-me-up in the afternoon. While the crisps were delicious, I figured I could make my own snack that would be healthier and cheaper. So, I set out trying to create a snack that would be similar to the pita crisps. I believe I found a perfect combination of sweet and crunchy with this easy to make snack. It only takes four ingredients and just a few minutes!
I love surprises. I slightly love surprising people more than being surprised. So, for breakfast this past weekend I wanted to surprise Samuel with something he loves: strawberry shortcake. Now, I eat a lot of sweet goodies for breakfast, but I can’t say I’ve had strawberry shortcake that early in my day. I wanted to think of a way to combine Samuel’s favorite dessert with something acceptable for breakfast. Prepare yourselves because this one is keeper.
Happy February everyone! Also, happy Super Bowl Sunday! I will be posting some recipes this week from our Super Bowl snackingpalooza, but for now, I wanted to post something different. Have you ever seen recipes that are “copycat” ones, such as: copycat Red Lobster cheddar biscuits, Twinkies, Olive Garden bread sticks, etc.? Well this one post is similar to a copycat post. It’s just slightly different, but the flavors are the exact same. No bake Twix cookies. These taste like a Twix bar, but better.
Sometimes simple is better. Not only are simple recipes less time consuming, they yield just as tasty foods. I decided I wanted to go a simple route for some cookies. I love baking, it’s really “my thing.” Therefore, I never got into no bake cookies. I can’t even remember if I’ve made them before. It just wasn’t a thing I would do. So, I decided to give them a try.
One of my coworkers inspired this post, and she doesn’t even know it. She mentioned that she was looking for pesto sauce at the store one day and couldn’t find it. I told her she could make her own. I have no idea if she actually did, but my own advice stuck with me. I’ve never made pesto sauce, so it was only right if I tried making it myself. After all, I did suggest it to her, blindly.
Happy New Year! This post goes right along with the Four Ingredient Biscuits from yesterday. It’s my humble opinion that you can’t have biscuits without gravy. A nice, fluffy biscuit with warm gravy is one of the best combinations ever invented. I have also found homemade gravy to be more delicious than the dry packet mixes you make with milk or water. This recipe is so easy, you’ll never need a packet mix again!
I have always been a fan of the “old fashioned” Christmas candies. This love comes from many years of enjoying candies as a kid and making them as an adult. There is one type of old fashioned candy I love to make above all others: fudge. I have been making fudge since I was in high school. I have made this particular recipe countless times, and I will say it is my most requested recipe by my family every Christmas.
