I haven’t posted a recipe from Soup Sunday in quite a while. So, it’s about that time to share another delicious and easy recipe for a soup I love. Now, I’ve posted a couple other soups that may seem similar to this one. However, I promise this soup is really different. I have made a couple tomato soups before, and both were great successes. This soup combines a wonderful tomato flavor with the interesting texture of quinoa.
It’s no secret that I love sweet scones. They are hearty, bready, and all around delicious. I’ve featured two sweet scones on my blog back in November (Pumpkin Scones with Spiced Glaze and Blueberry Scones). Both were a hit, and definitely on the “must repeat” list. However, scones are too delicious to only be sweet. So for this week’s soup, I wanted to make a delicious savory scone to go with it. Because what’s a soup without a hearty piece of bread for dipping?
If you recall, earlier this week I made a delicious post about tomato bisque. I have always paired tomato soup with grilled cheese. However, this time I wanted to make something a little different. Don’t get me wrong. I love grilled cheese sandwiches. I just got a hankering for something different this time around. Part of this was inspired by a dear friend who sent me a recipe involving tomatoes on a grilled cheese. I decided to take it a little further.
As the weekend rolls on through, so does one of the most anticipated days in our house: Soup Sunday. This will be the fifth post about Soup Sunday. This is kind of a big deal in our house, seriously. Soups are wonderful. They are easy to make and typically on the lower calorie side. Also, doesn’t Sunday seem like it was meant for soup? I digress about my love for Soup Sunday. On to the soup…
Soup Sunday is honestly one of my favorite things to look forward to during the week. I love no fuss dinners that don’t typically require a ton of work. It recently became colder and snowy here in Nebraska over the weekend, so soup was the perfect meal. Not only does soup make a wonderful dinner, it makes yummy lunches for the next few days. So, I decided I wanted to try a soup that combined two of my favorite things- cheesy pasta and tomato soup.
